Hybrids can run without their engines running while they prowl a parking lot for a space, so why not reward them for spending extra money on a masturbatory car by allowing them to park as close to the doors as possible?
After all, the guy in the hummer will get 8-10 mpg while looking for a spot further away and the ecological damage will be done.
I drive a non-hybrid and park in those spots all the time. If the store that owns the lot tows me, I’d write a letter to the store manager, and cc upper management, explaining that they have lost my business for life. It’s never happened, but that’s the net effect.
I once had a security doofus at a home-depot with this policy try to tell me to move. I asked him if he wanted to risk me never shopping at home-depot again over a stupid policy that makes no sense. Then I went in, leaving my car in the hybrid space. While inside, I asked to speak to a manager and explained to him that if he ever dared enforce the ridiculous policy, he would guarantee only one thing - fewer customers. He agreed, and called the corporate policy “stupid” and “the opposite of customer service”. I suggested he speak to his district manager and explain that it would be far more convincing if they simply stopped selling products that destroy the environment (styrofoam coolers? disposable paint brushes made out of plastic?).
Not only is this policy stupid, but it is a major turn off for folks like me, who aren’t sold on the whole global warming nonsense in light of the fact that study after study have proven Al Gore’s theory wrong and show the earth has been cooling for over a decade…..

Ikea in Chicago has Hybrid only parking, right next to the handicap spots so Clickbank isn’t too far off

What if my car gets better mileage than the hybrid - do I still get towed if I have a VW Bluetec diesel that gets over 60 MPG? Sissy Willis is right….
