All American Exteriors completed a project recently in McDonough, GA. In September of 2011, we met a potential customer at a Home Show in McDonough. They inquired about vinyl siding. We presented a foam backed vinyl siding along with the James Hardie ColorPlus Fiber Cement product that we offer.

The homeowners couldn't decide on whether they wanted to go with vinyl or hardie. After much deliberation, they came to the conclusion that they wanted to install the James Hardie ColorPlus siding in Arctic White.

Along with new siding, we installed new Simonton Vinyl Replacement Windows. Once we started tearing off the old vinyl siding that was on this home, we found numerous areas that had been leaking over time and had severe rot in the beams of the porch, the walls of the home, and the decking of the roof surrounding the chimney. We were able to take care of this as we were installing the new siding.

All American Exteriors completes many different kinds of projects during the year. Typically, All American installs about 3-4 gutter jobs a week, so about 150-200 gutter installations a year.

We usually install around 3-4 year roofing projects a month, about 30-50 roofing projects a year. Also, our siding and window projects average around 10-30 projects a year.

Depending on the weather and the amount of storms we receive in this area, the amount of roofing and siding projects that we complete can increase drastically.

Another good question pertaining to Siding is when you are talking to siding contractors, ask them what their audit score is. If they look at you with a puzzled face, then begin to question how much they know about installing fiber cement siding. JamesHardie is the only manufacturer that audits their Associate and Preferred contractors. What this means is James Hardie sends a technical install rep to your home and they check to make sure the Hardie siding has been installed per James Hardie's best practices standards. Someone that doesn't understand the best practices of James Hardie fiber cement siding, will typically receive a score of around 60-70 points. We strive to keep our audit scores in the mid to high 90's. Again if the contractor you are interviewing to replace your siding doesn't know what you are talking about when you ask them about their audit scores, it's time to keep looking for someone that does.

1. Where is the best location to put my storm shelter? The NOAA recommends placing tornado shelters outside the home and in the ground. I like to place the storm shelters close to a regularly used exit, that way when a storm arises you know exactly where to go.

2. We also get questions of how much gutters cost? Gutters range in pricing depending on the size of the gutter and whether or not it is a covered gutter guard system. Generally speaking an average home is going to have somewhere around 120-250 linear feet of gutters, plus downspouts. Typically 5" gutters average about $3.75 per foot, 6" gutters average $4.50 per foot and our Everclean Gutter System typically is $12-$13 per linear foot.

3. Why Do you use CertainTeed Shingles? One big reason is because CertainTeed shingles are manufactured locally in Peachtree City, GA. We like supporting our local economy and purchasing shingles that are made here in Georgia helps accomplish that. Also CertainTeed has been in business since 1904 and is one of the largest construction materials manufacturers in the world. We have had the best experience working with CertainTeed shingles.

Did a complete outside "makeover;" Hardie Plank siding, Simonton windows, garage doors, Everclean gutters, accents. We were reluctant to engage with any contractor due to many bad experiences. It has always been a hassle.

This is a family organization dedicated to good customer service and cooperative partnership. After over 20 years of dealing with unreliable companies these guys exemplify honesty and integrity. It is a welcome relief to find them in Henry County and to be able to recommend them to you.
