Questions and answers

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • I work with any brand you may already have or I can help you get the materials. Part of my job is letting you know what is the correct brand for your flooring project. If it is tile, laminate, wood, etc. I can tell you the pro's and con's of any brand. I am Pergo and Armstrong endorsed/certified. There is a store I deal with where I can get high quality 12mm laminate with a price that no one I have ever seen has beaten yet. I will not warantee any 6mm laminate product due to its own flaws. I like to shop the materials with my customers if possible to help as much as I can. I am not the salesman, I am the installer so I truly know what it takes to get the job done.

  • How did you get started?
  • My family has been in the flooring business for many years. When I was, and I am not kidding, been installing floors since I was 10 years old. Left alone with no supervision unless a new detail was taught to me. I saved my money and kept buying tools for flooring installations. Eventually I had enough to open my own company and did so. I truly enjoy my profession. Me and my father still work together to this day and quite recent sometimes. I'm younger so I move faster than him now. I have came a long way and now have other employees to work with me when needed. I think I will do this for awhile.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
  • I specialize in professional installation of flooring.I install flooring such as:

    • Wood
    • Engineered Wood
    • Laminate
    • Bamboo
    • Tile(all forms)
    • Resilient(vinyl planks or tiles)
    • Baseboards & Quarter-Round
    • Mouldings
    • Demolition of pre-existing floor
    • Self-Leveling Concrete

I remove your old carpet, pad, and tack-strip for free. Most floor prep is included at no charge. Always moving furniture is free when installing laminate. I install floating floors or glue-down application for any engineered wood or wood flooring install. Every job is left clean. If demolition of tile is done in your home I do in a very clean manner. I offer more services just call and ask anytime.

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • You should hire someone you would want in your home first of all. Make sure they know how to install the floor is very important. Many installers will say they done something a dozen times before when in reality you might be their first job for that kind of flooring.

When an installer gives you an estimate you should always shop around. Make sure both parties agree to what needs to be done and at what price. Communication is key in correct job completion.

When I meet a customer for the first time a salesman has already told them many things that are not true about installation of flooring. I then have to explain that they seen the floor so how would they know. I am here to help you the customer not make a sale and go on the next job.

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • Make sure it is a company that is licensed and has work comp or work comp exempt. You could get a few fines for working a person in your home and if they get hurt you are responsible for their hospital bills and lost wages also. Ask questions prior to make sure the installer knows his job well. During the estimate do a walk around to make sure everyone know how the flooring will be installed. During the initial phone call go on www.sunbiz.org to see which companies are active or even real. Having the type of floor or knowing what you might buy prior also help to give the installer a labor price prior as a reference. I would always go with a flooring installers opinion prior to the actual purchase of the flooring so think color first.

  • Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
  • In March I installed 2000 square feet of Stranded-Woven Bamboo in a style called tiger stripe. It was a urethane based glue down application which provided extra moisture and sound proofing. The customer liked it so much because it started just in one room and he made the decision to do the entire house. Bamboo floor in its natural state is so durable I know he will not cause damage to it after the job. I was able to get the materials at a much lower cost than what most stores sell it for. Just the look of this bamboo made me install it in the walls of my own home. After the job was completed we all looked at it and it was great.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • You should hire someone you would want in your home first of all. Make sure they know how to install the floor is very important. Many installers will say they done something a dozen times before when in reality you might be their first job for that kind of flooring.

When an installer gives you an estimate you should always shop around. Make sure both parties agree to what needs to be done and at what price. Communication is key in correct job completion. Being licensed is also a big plus. A company should also have work comp or excempt papers such as I do. It is also wise to have a flooring installer see if they have a good source for materials and a low price as I do.
