About April's Shots Photography

I am an independent photographer I serve Arlington and all surrounding areas.

I provide photography services for businesses or families. I have a young daughter, so I am great with children portraits.

I use a professional Canon Rebel T3i camera for all my shoots. I offer all photos on a DVD for future prints and a photo release.

I also offer a free consultation to discuss details of the photo shoot and pricing.

• What types of jobs are the most common?

• Mostly head shots for graduations or other business needs. I have also done maternity and engagement photos.

• What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
A.

• I would tell the customer that its not about taking pictures its about making photos and memories that will last forever.

• What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
A.

• I offer holiday deals and often when photos are done in a group I offer discounts as well. I now have business cards that a 15% off next order coupon on the reverse side. This coupon is only good on the second order.

• How did you get started?
A.

• I have always enjoyed photography but I became more serious about photography after my daughter was born 3 years ago. I wanted photos of her periodically as she grew and I felt I could do better than the studio I had tried. Ever since I have been taking her photos myself and they have been great so now I am branching out to get other experiences.

• Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
A.

• My latest photo shoot with my daughter was one of my best. It was her 3 year photos and they wear just stunning. Now that she is not so much baby it is easier to get her to model and really get the poses that I want. I had her dressed in an expensive blue dress on a black backdrop and on a old rocking horse my husband made in wood shop years ago.

• What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
A.

• I specialize in head shots, architecture, abstract, full body portraits, studio photography, outdoor photography, and still object photography for marketing.

• What brands or products do you work with?
A.

• I use a Canon Rebel T3i and I use the latest version of Photoshop for editing. I bring my Macbook Pro with me to photo shoots to that I can discuss the photos with the clients and I also have it with me to preview the cd of photos to reassure the client that the photos are on the disc.

• What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?

• I provide all photos on a DVD for future printing and a contact sheet of the photos. With photo release.

• What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
A.

• Q: Do you have a place to take the photos as I do not?

  A: Photo sessions are available at my apartment or we can discuss a mutual location like an outdoor park.

  Q: How many photos do you think you take in the one hour sessions?

  A: I take roughly 100-150 photos and edit about 10-20 of the best poses.

  Q: What is your turnaround time?

  A: After I take the photos it takes approximately 3-4 days to edit and get the photos back to you.

  Q: When is your availability?

  A: I am most available mornings and afternoons during the week until 4-5pm and I am available all day Saturday and Sunday.

• How many projects do you average in a year?
A.

• Right now its hard to say because I'm just starting to branch out of my family. I photograph my daughter at least 6 times a year. And I work on architectural shots and abstract photography as well.
