About CADman DH
Hello,
My name is David. I am an 11+ year CAD experienced drafter. I can work in AutoCAD 2011, or Microstation V8i. My experience is in the structural field covering: residential, commercial, industrial and city projects; from custom and multi-family homes, retail stores, tilt-up, sea-walls, parking structures, schools, hospitals, detention centers and bridge work. I've covered a broad spectrum.
In any case, I can draft what you need in a quick, efficient and professional manner. I've managed CAD for small and large multi-million dollar projects. My schedule has opened up some to accept more work. My fee is competitive at $25/hr. Larger projects can be estimated to a budget plan. Sample work can be shown upon request.
If you need training in AutoCAD or Microstation, I have a trained a number of people over the years. I am patient and understand the stress of learning new programs. This can be 1 on 1 or group training. I do not provide a training site, thus training would be at your site, on your computer(s). Same rate applies + travel time.
If you need help with setting up a project in AutoCAD or Microstation, I can help! The beginning of a project is the most crucial stage! Improper set-up can cost you time and budget, I've seen this happen all too often with other firms. CAD organization is often treated as an afterthought.
Don't let it happen to you! I can set-up and show you how to organize your files, set-up standards, optimize your program settings and share with you time saving tips to clean & efficient production! Same rate applies + travel time.
Questions and answers
- What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
Quality CAD work starts with how Organized a CAD Tech is, and there are many different fields in which CAD is done. Be sure that the CAD Tech you're looking for has the right background experience for your project. An experienced Tech in the field you need, can anticipate more of what you will need and how long it will take. Having the right Tech will make a job feel seemless, which bad CAD can quickly ruin your budget.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
AutoCAD (11 years)
MicroStation (3 years)
Structural Design (Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Parking structures, and Bridges)
- What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
Be sure to have a licensed engineer review and approve your plan. Having all the information up front and correct will save time and money.
- What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
Saving money on projects is all about being organized. Make sure you have the right personnel! Cutting corners won't save you money. Having a proper plan with the right people will.
- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
CAD work isn't just lines on the screen or paper. There's an in depth organization that comes with it. Proper organization can make CAD work seem Easy, but poor CAD work can quickly make it miserable and sink a project. People don't often plan ahead and that is where the failure begins. Proper set-up may take a little long to do and make it seem like the start is slow, but it pays off big time in the long run, especially if there are last minute changes at the end, which there typically are.
- What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
I can provide revision work if design changes are made. I can aid in suggestions, yet a licensed engineer is required for structural design.
- What types of jobs are the most common?
Most of what I do is Structural, but I have worked in many other fields: MEP, Survey, HVAC, & Material design (3D).
