Questions and answers
- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
I think one thing most customers don't realize is the work involved in face painting. We spend a lot of time putting together designs and practicing them.
It's not as simple as going to do an hour of painting at a party, there is a lot we do to prepare for the party that the customer never sees.
- How did you get started?
Creative Occasions came to me after taking my children to a McDonalds kids night almost 2 years ago. I was told I could use their paints to paint my children's faces since the host was busy at the time.
I picked up the paint brush and haven't put it down since. From there I started adding more service options like balloon twisting and tattoos to try and help customers get better pricing on packages instead of having to hire more then one company.
- What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
I think any customer choosing to have face painting at their event should pay attention to the brand of paints used by the artist. Professional artist use only FDA approved face paints, do not hire anyone who uses craft paints. Craft paints are not meant for skin and can cause a bad reaction, so make sure you ask what brand of paints the artist you hire works with.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
Face painting, balloon art, temporary tattoos!
We recently added such costumes characters as Elmo and Mickey with many more to follow.
We can do bunce house and concession rentals such as cotton candy machines, snowcone machines and hot dog carts. Need tables, generators and lighting? We have that too!
- What brands or products do you work with?
We use only FDA approved face paints such as Snazaroo, Wolfe Bros, and Tag. Our balloons are the qualatex brand, excellent for making great balloon animals.
Temporary tattoos are hand painted using a body ink called Temptu, they last up to 7 days.
- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
I was very happy to have worked the firestone grand opening in Perry Hall on Saturday April 28th! We were able to provide all the guest with great face painting and balloons.
I was even able to bring spongebob along with me to greet all the children! Mix 106.5 was also there broadcasting live and gave us a great review on the radio.
