Questions and answers

  • How did you get started?
  • Started with father back in the 80's. He started in the 50's and is still working today. Odd's are he will be on your job. He has run the gammit from neon sign work, govt projects, commercial, industrial, and lot's of residential.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • I would ask him for some references or a source to get the references. Ask them for a copy of their liability insurance, website, referrals, co-workers, look them up on internet (auditor sites for criminal background), etc I've noticed a big wave of side jobber electricians doing shoddy work, taking the money, and disappearing lately. I've seen lot's of horror stories of people that got scammed be "so called" electricians. Be careful because most of our work is hidden from view and you need to trust your electrician. Usually the cheapest bid comes at a price. It's tough in this economy I know, but pay a bit more and get satisfaction the person will complete the job right, not steal you blind, and be there for follow up years to come. We don't plan on leaving any time soon.

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • Us legit guys have major expenses that most homeowners do not know about. Between insurance, fuel, maintainence, vehicle cost etc...We are trying to compete with guys out of a pickup to make a quick buck. Not only that. They are doing shoddy work giving us that do it for a living a bad name. Investigate a bit. Look for time in the area, testimonials, insurance, etc...

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • N/C

  • Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
  • There really is not one in particular. We are proud of every job. One job at a time, one customer at a time.

  • What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
  • We are multiple super service award winners on angies list. go look for yourself. You can check us out at dennyselectricllc.com as well for link.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
  • Primarily residential. Which include all facets. Here are just some. Ceiling fans, added circuit, repairs, troubleshooting, new service, landscape lighting, etc...We also do light commercial and some industrial repair. We have 50 yrs experience and have been in the cincinnati area our whole lives. 1000's of jobs completed in the cincinnati area and no complaints to know of. We must be doing something right.

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • We work with all brands. Not really brand loyal. We have a good, better, best system and always go with the best products when requested. Just remember, you get what you pay for most of the time.

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • We try to do follow up calls when possible to make sure things went right. We aim to go over and above expections. We are into value and quality and standing behind our work.

  • What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
  • The first thing is you get what you pay for. John X might be $400 to do something but Paul Y can be $575 for the same thing. There is a chance that John X will do exactly the same thing as Paul Y but there is usually a "REASON" that one bid is really low. Usually, no or very low overhead, NO INSURANCE, etc... Just to re-iterate for all us insured out there. If you get someone from craigslist working on side and he falls or shocks himself. Take a guess who is going to pay for his injury ?? Your homeowners policy. Do you want that? Make sure you get a copy of current insurance. A lot of guys lie thinking you won't check, call their bluff. Insurance is very expensive for us so that's one reason why we are higher.

  • How many projects do you average in a year?
  • 300-500

  • Tell us something customers may not know about you.
  • We are also into large scale lighting projects. Typically, we save companies 50-80% energy savings with 0.5-2yrs payback. If you know anyone that wants to cut their cost and get better light have them give us a call.

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
  • why is my breakers tripping.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • Service upgrades, panel upgrades, all types of repairs, added wiring for various things, spas, landscape, custom lighting and design. There is really very little we do not do.
