Questions and answers

  • What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
  • One of the best ways for a homeowner to save money is to find the right contractor. A contractor who submits a comprehensive, thorough estimate will help any homeowner stay within a pre-determined budget.

A detailed estimate will reduce cost "over-runs." Also, a contractor who outlines a detailed proposal will not omit certain parts of a project necessary for completion.

Saving money is great, but home construction is an investment. When you're trying to cut back on costs, it's sometimes easy to forget about your home's resale value. Laminate may look good on paper, but springing for tile or hardwood flooring makes your home more salable down the road.

Whether you're renovating a single room or considering some major home construction, the key to saving money is considering your costs at every step of the project.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • In our experience, we don't consider any project as common, but the most often requested projects are kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, complete additions, garages, decks, driveways, replacement windows and doors, etc.

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • We would like all our customers to know that, while they might need a remodel project done to their home, it is not always necessary for them to have a 100% finished product in mind. An experienced contractor will accommodate his customers' wishes, but he may also include suggestions for ease of traffic patterns, ways to save money on materials, introduce them to new materials available, and quite often, offer variations of what a homeowner has in mind.

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • Obviously, a homeowner should realize that the more information/ideas/suggestions they can offer a contractor, will help reduce confusion, when a contractor does show up for an estimate.

Also, any blueprints, or even homeowner sketches, drawings, etc., can be very helpful in conveying the desired outcome of any project to a professional remodeling contractor.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
    • We can build

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?

We have been in business over 10 years.

2). When can you start, and finish, the project?

We provide all estimates, in writing, and by state law, estimates must include (among other things) a beginning date, as well as, a completion date.

3). How much will the project cost?

In addition to answer in #2, price is required in all estimates, as well as payment/deposit terms.

4). Are you licensed and/or insured?

We possess 2 State Certifications, and are fully insured.

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • Any/all follow-up, and all workmanship and materials are 100% guaranteed.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • Are you licensed?

Do you carry general liability insurance?

Do you carry workers’ compensation insurance?

What types of Payments do you accept?

Are you a member of NARI or NAHB?

Will you pull all the required building permits?

    Do you guarantee your work?

Who will be in charge of the job?

Will you provide me with written references?

How do you handle “dirty work”?

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • We use/work with standard type materials as well as green or recycled products where applicable and available. We also use Energy-Star rated building products, such as windows, doors, appliances, insulation, etc, when appropriate, as they conserve energy costs for the homeowner, and also reduce the carbon footprint to the environment.

Testimonials

  • June 11, 2012
Mark responded swiftly with an estimate and provided excellent communication throughout the project. He and his team ripped out our decaying porch, assessed the inherent damage (90 year-old home), proposed a plan to both stabilize the porch and accommodate our wants/needs, and ultimately exceeded our expectations with his craftsmanship.

We had to compromise the original plan because of someone's previous poor construction, and Marks' solution was way better than our original plan.

The only negative was that project took a little longer than we had expected even when taking into account the unforeseen adjustments and reinforcements. Our only inconvenience, however, was having to board our dog during the project. Mark and crew made up for it by repairing a random problem area on our back deck without me even asking them.
