Questions and answers

  • How did you get started?
  • We decided to get into pet care when we moved out of state and realized that if we were to vacation or go back home at any point who would take care of our pet. We didn't know anyone and did not trust boarding. Even though boarding facilities require a bordetella shot before they can board, there are different strains of kennel cough so it is still possible to get it. We did not want to take that chance.

  • What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
  • Our groomers are certified in all breeds. Most of our pet care professionals have been certified in Pet CPR and Pet first aid.

  • Tell us something customers may not know about you.
  • We always send a profile of the person who the client will meet with so they know who they are letting into their home. Safety is so important. We always take extra measures. We want to know as much information about your pet(s) so that in an emergency situation we have all the information we need to care for the situation. We would rather have more information than is needed than to have not enough information and need it.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • First and foremost not only should a client ask if a professional is insured, they should request to see proof of it. Too many people take the verbal yes I am insured at its worth. Trust but verify. That is an awareness promo that Pet Sitter International is running right now. In this day of age people who have absolutely no experience in pet care advertise their services just about everywhere. Seeing is believing. Don't just ask questions check body language of the pet sitter and how they react to your questions, see how they react with your pets.

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
  • Are you insured and bonded? Do you have references? Do you serve my area? Do you know how to deal with special needs pets?

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • Insurance is so important. Most people assume that because they have never had an issue that there will never be a need. We get clients who have decided to go with a professional company because the past pet sitter who was usually in business on their own, was not insured, made a mistake and the client was left with the bill. Rates are important. But when you skimp on the insurance you could see yourself possibly flipping a much bigger bill.

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • We always provide our clients a client questionnaire. We want their opinions on our service since we strive for excellent care. We also offer $5 off their future service when they complete the survey.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • Pet sitting, dog walking, grooming, for dogs and cats. We handle all pets unless they are aggressive. We do handle pit bulls, German Shepards, Doberman's etc. So we do not restrict breeds. We also deal quite often with special needs pets.

  • How many projects do you average in a year?
  • It averages differently year to year. We have always increased in business. But there are different reasons why people use us.

  • Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
  • We took care of a woman's 8 show dogs on a live in service. They each had to be fed separately, each with a different routine. We contour each visit/stay to the pets that we care for. We don't want to stress out the pets we care for by changing their routine. So we offer a free 1st meeting to ensure we know what his/her routine is to ensure their happiness.

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • We will need the client's name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, gate code for the neighborhood, apartment or condo or lot number if applicable, pet breed, whether medications are needed, dates needed, date you are able to meet the pet care professional, if you have an alarm system.

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • We don't use products in our pet care. Our groomers & home cleaners use products of their own choosing.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
    • Professional Pet Sitting
    • Pet Taxi Transport
    • Pooper Scooper
    • Concierge Service
    • Home Cleaning
    • Grooming

  • What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
  • Purchase a package of visits. By doing so you will save $1.50 per visit. We also offer discounts for people using us for live in and boarding for longer stays.
