About Guitar Lessons in Your Home
I give private guitar and bass lessons to students in their own home.
I've been teaching for about 8 years and have a degree in music from Mira Costa in Oceanside. I play a wide variety of styles including classical and flamenco, and I can also teach music reading and theory.
I've performed in blues, funk, and metal bands and can also provide guidance on live performance, recording, and guitar maintenance.
All ages and levels of experience are welcome.
My normal rate is $20 for half an hour and $35 for an hour. The price may vary depending on drive time. I live in inland Oceanside, service all of North County, and am willing to drive further. I always give the first lesson for free so the student can decide if I am the right teacher for them without needing to pay.
Contact me if you're looking for a quality guitar teacher.
Questions and answers
- What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
Never be afriad to ask for references. The customer or parent should always ask the teacher how long they have been teaching, how many students they have had, and what their qualifications are.
- What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
I provide weekly or biweekly lessons, but I am always open to students calling, texting, or e-mailing me with questions between lessons. These questions can be about the lesson itself, what they are supposed to be practicing, or about guitar maintenance issues.
I also encourage students to learn and practice more than just what I go over in a lesson. So a student can always call/text me with questions about songs they are learning even if it isn't a song I taught them.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
I play a wide variety of popular styles including blues, rock, metal, and jazz. But I also have a degree in music and have studied classical and flamenco guitar for many years. There are a lot of great guitar teachers around North County but not too many of them can also teach flamenco, traditional finger picking techniques, and then also switch to B.B. King or Guns and Roses in the same lesson.
