Questions and answers
- What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
3 basic questions come to mind. The first is for their business license information. Any contractor should be in good standing with the state or jurisdiction in which they operate. Second, Business insurance should be up to date with adequate coverage. General Liability, Workers Compensation and Automotive are the basics every legitimate contractor should have. Third would be for a list of referals, Call them and ask how they performed!
- How did you get started?
After working in the HVAC industry for several major building automation companies, I decided to pursue my dreams and started remodeling speculative housing. When the market shifted in 2007, My team turned toward the residential housing market and started remodeling for other people too!
- What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
Be upfront with your contractor with the budget and work with them to stay within that budget. Certain things should not be shortcut, especially foundations, framing, insulation, electrical and plumbing. A good contractor will come up with very creative ways to make a room functional while maintaining their clients trust and budget.
- What brands or products do you work with?
We have access to several brands of kitchen cabinetry and have had great success with Welborn and Medallion Cabinets. We like Kohler, Grohe, Hansgroe and Danze plumbing fixtures. We prefer BR111 flooring, Shaw and Armstrong for prefinished flooring, Amtico makes some unique vinyl products. Solid surface countertops like Silestone, Hanstone, Icestone (recycled glass) and Granite are in great demand. Sherwin Williams and McCormic paint make great finishes to any project.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
We specialize in treating our customers as if they were family and their homes as if they were our own.
- What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
Along with basic warranty services, most of our customers ask us to perform work to shorten their "honey Do"list. Depending on our schedule, we will either perform the tasks immediately or schedule them for a more convenient time and date.
- What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
EPA RRP Certified Remodeler
Authorized Wellborn Cabinetry Installation Contractor
- How many projects do you average in a year?
Depending on the size, we average between 25 and 30 projects per year. We schedule projects so there is minimal overlap and try to allow ample time to properly address any issues that arise.
- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
I am proud of all the work we perform but you know that you have a satisfied customer when they keep calling you back to perform more work. We remodled a kitchen earlier this year, from design to completion and have subsequently shored up an existing addition that was "Bouncy", Remodeled the stairway and are just finishing up the bathroom. That's Awesome!
