About Jordan Anthony Photography

"Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph." – Matt Hardy

If there is anything most valuable in life, it is a memory. We seek memories for comfort and happiness, and we do it every day. Photography is an art that allows us to capture those memories physically so we can look back and seek the comfort and happiness that we all know and love.

I will push to my best abilities to capture your memories in a way that you can look back at them and feel the happiness and joy that was felt during that moment of your life!

If you would like to see more of my work, please contact me. My photos are much too large to upload on this site.

Questions and answers

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • The best thing to have on your mind before inquiring anywhere is:

    • The LOCATION(s)!!
    • How many people will be there
    • Package you want (Or your price range)
    • How many photos you're looking to get
    • When YOU'RE free!

Explaining your schedule & free time is key. Photographers usually try to work around YOUR schedule, so giving them an idea what works for you speeds up the process by allowing them to find free time quickly.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
  • I specialize in portrait work, specifically:

    • Senior portraits
    • Weddings
    • Engagement sessions
    • Couple portraits
    • Family sessions

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
  • Q: When are you available?

A: I'm available when you are!

Q: How much does a camera like that cost? (Yes this is in the top 5)

A: A lot, and I will leave it at that :)

Q: How long until I get my pictures?

A: You can expect your photos done and in your possession usually a week or two from the shoot! For a wedding it typically takes about 1-2 months, perhaps less depending on the size.

    Q: Do you do editing?

A: Yes. And I do it for FREE!

Q: Can you take the watermark off the pictures?

A: Unless it's discussed and I'm paid extra in advance, they have to stay on there. Watermarks are what help get my name out there when you print, or upload them online.

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • I can do what the customer needs. With all of my packages a digital CD/DVD is included, usually 2-4 depending on how many photos there are/people.

I can offer to print the pictures as well. But I do personally recommend my customers to get them printed themselves because they will save money!

I do all editing while I go through the pictures. Unless you tell me you don't want them edited, they will all be!

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • I use a Nikon brand camera. I started with Nikon and it just grew on me. Nikon cameras are what I'm most familiar with and work best with. I prefer their rugged builds on the upper-range cameras.

As for lenses I have no preferences. As long as it performs great I don't care who makes it :)

  • Tell us something customers may not know about you.
  • I love biking in downtown Madison, WI. I also enjoy working on my car & doing my best to improve it. I currently drive a 94' BMW!

I enjoy building computers in my spare time & improving my own. My goal in the future is to start another service building reliable and cost-friendly computers for others.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • Senior photos and weddings. Weddings are being scheduled all year round! Senior portraits usually take place in the summer and fall.

Engagement photos also begin to pick up during the fall season, the same time as weddings.

  • How did you get started?
  • I started doing paid photography in High School for friends and relatives. I was more interested in Landscape & urban photography, but as I bought new equipment and experimented with different techniques portrait photography became my new-found love.

  • What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
  • My biggest recommendation as I mentioned before is to get prints done yourself! Choosing that route lets you decide what kind of prints you want, how many you need, and where to get them done.

The second word of advice I have is to consider a range of different photographers for whatever you need done. Going with the first result in Google Search is going to cost you a lot more. The bigger the company/group, the less options you may have!

A photographer who charges $2,000 for a wedding is most likely going to give you spectacular pictures, but you'll be tied into a strict contract (paying extra for print rights, etc..)

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • Their past experience, or perhaps how long they have been doing it. Another good question is to ask why they are interested in working for you! Some people just do it for the money.

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • There is a lot more work & thinking power in taking a (good) photograph! It's more than just clicking a button.

During a wedding a photographer will rarely rest, and I often find myself standing 4 or more hours without taking a seat for more than 5 minutes.

I usually bring my own food and beverages so I can stay at my best without missing any important moments.

Testimonials

  • August 22, 2012
I had my daughter's senior pictures done by Jordan. They were amazing. She wanted her picture with her prized antique John Deere tractor. He managed to get both her and the tractor without the tractor overpowering her. They were very artistic and they made her feel "pretty." I have recommended him to several other people for senior pictures. I have another senior next year and will be calling him again.
