Questions and answers
- What types of jobs are the most common?
Wire Shorts and Burnt Wires - If you suspect or you are sure that you have experienced shorts in your wiring, it is vital that you quickly call an electrician to fix this problem. Wire shorts or burnt wires are most likely to end in a fire. The moment you see or smell something burning whenever you switch on the light or turn on an appliance, have this issue looked at by an Qualified Electrician immediately.
Outdated Electrical Outlets - If you live in an old house or your business is situated in an old building, have your outlets updated to what is being used now.
Installation of New Electrical Panels - A frequent job that should be carried out by a professional electrician is the setting up of a new circuit breaker panel. This is a tricky job that needs the expertise of a skilled electrician.
Switching a 110 Volt System to a 220 Volt System - This is probably the most common job that electricians are called to do. Business establishments who have big appliances that need a 220 volt system should have their electrical system if they want to meet local restrictions.
System Grounding- The purpose of grounding in an electrical system is threefold:
Provides a low resistance path to ground for any surges or lightning strikes that may occur on the electrical system;
Provides a low resistance path to ground for fault currents, and thus trips the over current protective device (circuit breaker or fuse) quickly when a fault or short circuit occurs; and most importantly,
Provides a stable reference point for the voltages in each phase of a circuit. A solid ground point prevents the phase-to-ground and the phase-to-phase voltages from fluctuating.
