Questions and answers

  • Tell us something customers may not know about you.
  • I wish customers knew the amount of work and money it takes to do even the smallest of jobs. With fuel rates where they have been, the cost of going to the site to move something or remove starts at around twenty dollars. Paying extra helpers also costs. For debris removal, I do not charge more than I have to pay for dump fees and the landfill.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
  • LIGHT MOVING - APPLIANCES AND FURNITURE

DEBRIS REMOVAL - CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS, YARD WASTE

  • How many projects do you average in a year?
  • 36 to 100 in the past year. Some months are slow and other months I get really busy. It's feast or famine in this business.

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
  • How much will you charge me? I ask what they want done. I give an estimate over the phone if that is what they want and guarantee that my verbal phone estimate will be on the high end and I will not exceed that amount. Most often that amount ends up being less. I also offer on site estimates with the same stipulation.

  • Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
  • I do some charity work and that is what I am most proud of. An elderly woman had her washer and dryer stolen from her garage. I was contacted and we found her a washer and dryer for free.

In another situation, I had to move a couple that was splitting up - neither wanted to see each other. On the first day, I moved her possessions to the storage. On the second day, I moved his possessions to their destination.

  • How did you get started?
  • I got started with my pickup truck and placing an ad online. First doing small jobs like moving a couch or an appliance and later some larger jobs.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • There is a good mix of jobs that I am called upon to do. Hauling construction debris and household debris to the dump seems to happen more often than moving items for customers.

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • I WISH CUSTOMERS KNEW THE AMOUNT OF WORK AND MONEY IT TAKES TO DO EVEN THE SMALLEST OF JOBS. WITH FUEL RATES WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN, THE COST OF GOING TO SITE TO MOVE SOMETHING OR REMOVE STARTS AT AROUND TWENTY DOLLARS. PAYING EXTRA HELPERS ALSO COSTS. FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL, THERE I DO NOT CHARGE MORE THAN I HAVE TO PAY FOR DUMP FEES AND THE LANDFILL.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • Do you have references?

    Do you give free estimates?

    How much do you charge?

    When can you be here?

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • I give a printed receipt for my services.

I check to make sure the customer is satisfied.

In case I raise my rates during the year due to increased costs, I offer that customer the same price for the same service for one year.

Testimonials

  • September 14, 2012
I must say, Peter from Do-Da proved to me that there are still some honest people in this world. I live in MD and needed some auto parts picked up and delivered to a shipping location in FL so they can be sent to me. The seller would only accept cash and was unwilling to go to a MoneyGram location. I contacted Peter and explained the situation.

I trusted Peter enough to send him $300 for the purchase and his fee through MoneyGram, so that he could pay for the items and drop them off. In the world we live in, it was in the back of my mind that maybe he would just take the money and run, but he didn't. Peter was the ultimate professional and did exactly what he promised and was hired to do. If you're looking for an honest man, Peter is your guy.

Thanks again, Peter, and God bless you!
