I have 6 clients that I have been working with for over 5 years. I usually average about 20 new clients a year for one-on-one personal training.
Boot camp numbers are way higher, usually around 300 a year.
We provide fitness maintenance follow-up primarily once a month to make sure the client is still on the right track
You want to know what his or her credentials are(certifications). You want to see proof or maybe even asked for references(talk to present clients) so that you can find out if this is the person for me.
My mother was a nurse and I use to read her books and make self diagnosis on myself. I began coaching sports (soccer, basketball baseball) in college.
After graduating from college and starting my career in sports writing, I started coaching men's rec ball in D.C.. I came back to Philly and began coaching school and men's rec around my job.
As I got into basketball workouts and doing pharmaceutical sales this propelled me into fitness training.
This question really depends on the client. If you are motivated and can do workouts on your own, you can save money by just having your trainer meet with you maybe once or twice a month and write out and show you your workout. Then you do them based on your time frame independently.
Working this way with a trainer, again only if you are motivated enough and don't need someone standing over you, will save you money. Meaning, instead of meeting 2 to 3 times a week and paying for 8 to 12 sessions a month, you're only paying for 1 or 2 sessions.
Most people don't realize when it comes to fitness training that their are different categories. People should not assume that all fitness trainers do the same thing.
