- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
Hiring a professional belly dancer can be very tricky through the internet these days. Please take your time to search for a professional belly dancer. There may be beginner students or even stay-at-home moms that belly dance as a part-time out there with a website, claiming to be professional dancers. Read their website, the information they have online, watch everything from pictures to videos BEFORE calling them. Also, don't be scared to ask questions!

Q. Why must I pay a deposit for my event?
A. The deposit ensures that Bessy will hold this date and time for your party or event. A cancellation would mean a loss of work, as Bessy could not schedule another event during that time.
Q. Why is it so expensive?
A. Bessy's performance rates are the professional standard for the Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach area. Lower rates can be found. However, that usually means the experience and performance level of the dancer is also lower as well. Don't leave your event to chance. Hire a professional dancer if you want a professional service!
Q. I'm in Palm Beach County. Does your rate increase?
A. Yes. Bessy works in the MIami, Broward, and Palm Beach County area. However, she is mainly based in Miami. To be able to get to your party or event, she has to travel almost 89 miles, that's why she charges $20 for all Broward gigs and $40 for all shows in Homestead and Palm Beach County.
Q. Why don't you bellydance at men's private parties?
A. Sometimes bellydancing is portrayed in movies and TV as being very seductive or somehow sleazy. This is very bad, since it's a false perception. It gives some people the wrong idea. Like most bellydancers, Bessy will not dance at male-only gatherings (like men bachelor parties) because they are probably expecting a stripper or an exotic dancer and that's not what Oriental Dance is about! Real bellydancing is family friendly entertainment. Sorry, but no inquiries for all male events will be considered, only some girls bachelor parties will be accepted.
Q. What kind of music is used?
A. It depends on your preference, but Arabian/Egyptian music is preferred.
Q. Is it appropriate for kids?
A. Yes! Like always, all our performances are family friendly. We do not contract for bachelor parties.
Q. Is tipping allowed?
A. Yes. The dancer will gladly accept tips. (thrown above her head as a "money shower")
Q. How far in advance should I make the booking?
A. Please make the booking as soon as possible. Holidays and weekends tend to book out completely.
Q. Who provides the music?
A. Bessy provides an Arabic/Egyptian CD or USB (MP3) with all her music (and the venue or person hosting/contracting the dancer should provide the sound system.
Q. What about out of town shows?
A. Shows and events outside of these areas will need to be booked in advance but can easily be accommodated. The client pays the nightly booking fee, plus travel and lodging expenses.
Q. I am interested in booking a performance for a charity of non-profit event. Are Bessy's prices the same for these kind of events?
A. Charity benefits and non-profits looking for a discounted or donated performance are assessed on an individual basis. Bessy donates a select number of performances to charity each year. Please, feel free to contact her for more information.
Q. Can I take pictures/video of the performance?
A. Photos and video are the perfect way to remember your party, and Bessy/the RakSharki Goddesses would love to be a part of those memories! Take as many photos or videos as you would like! Feel free to send Bessy copies of any photos or videos. She would love to see them! No photos or video of Bessy or the RakSharki Godddesses may be taken and sold for profit.
Q. My event is in a public place. Will Bessy and/or the RakSharki Goddesses still be able to perform?
A. Public locations are fine for performances, but Bessy and the RakSharki Goddesses will not be responsible for any permits or permissions required. That is your responsibility. If the venue refuses to allow Bessy and/or the RakSharki Goddesses to perform, the full cost of the performance will still be charged for reserving the date and preparation time.
Q. We would like you to wear a more conservative costume for our event, is that possible?
A. Bessy has a wide variety of costumes and can wear traditional folkloric costuming that covers her arms and belly. If your family, guests, audience, or friends are very traditional and you would prefer the dancer to wear a more conservative costume for your performance, please specify during booking.

I specialize in Raqs Sharqi, Baladi, and Saidi (cane dance.) My belly dance shows consist of a lot of props.

I tried out a free belly dance class and automatically fell in love with this art form! I continued taking classes in Miami, FL. until I received my certification and started advertising online in 2010.
