Questions and answers

  • What brands or products do you work with?
  • Product Lines: Euphora, Moroccan oil, Lanza and Organics.

Color Line: I use only Organics color line, because it is 100% organic ingredients and 100% ammonia-free. It is not only great for the client; it is also great for me to work with because I don't have to deal with the harsh smell of ammonia.

  • What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
  • I am a certified organic colorist. I use the Organic Salon Systems. I can do any kind of coloring (highlighting, color retouch, fashion colors.). I specialize in cutting as well. I have had trainings with Euphora in updos, barbering and razor cutting. I also do facial waxing!

  • What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
  • Stylists are not hourly-based. We are there to make you beautiful, and when you don't show up, we don't get paid.

So please, if you make an appointment, try not to forget! :)

  • What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
  • After the service is done, if there are any minor things I need to tweak, I usually do it after the blow dry or when I am finished before doing the finishing hairspray. I usually ask if there is anything that they want different this time in the service.

  • What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
  • Q: How long have you been doing hair service?

    A: 6 Years

Q: What made you decide to do hair?

A: I knew at a young age what I wanted to do. I am a hands-on person, and I work better that way.

  • What types of jobs are the most common?
  • The most common service is color retouch, but it really varies on what season of the year it is. I would say I do more highlighting in the spring / summer than fall / winter.

  • How did you get started?
  • I knew what I wanted to do at a very young age. I was about 4, and my good friend was 3 (maybe even 2). I thought she needed a hair cut, and so I cut her hair off. When I was done with her, I said okay, now it's your turn, and I turned to her brother. My mom walked in and saw the damage I had done.

In my gymnastics class, I did all the girls' hair before meets.

In high school, I just loved watching stylists perform their masterpieces. Their job looked so much fun. I signed up for a vocational program and enrolled in a cosmetology class. It was a 2-year program. I have been in the field since 2006. I love what I do and how I make people feel.

Whenever a woman would tell me -- "I like your style," I feel great joy to hear someone say that to me.

  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
  • If I were a customer who wanted to make an appointment, I would probably ask if the stylist has had any special training.

  • How many projects do you average in a year?
  • I can't really put a number on projects. I work 3 days a week, and if you want me to come to you for a wedding, I can always let you know if it works for me or not.

I do travel for weddings, so I can do home-service, or if you prefer to have it in the salon, we can do that as well.

  • What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
  • I am certified in organic salon systems coloring systems. I got certified in March of 2011. I wanted to know more about the color systems and be completely educated with it.

  • What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
  • If you are looking to have a complete change, or even wedding service done, I would ask you for a picture. That way I can try to imagine what you are thinking.

Bring in 10 pictures. We can always combine different things together. Also, always know what it is you want done.

  • Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
  • That would have to be the last wedding party I did. I had a wedding party last August 5, 2012. They were amazing people and great to work with. So easy-going, and they knew exactly what they wanted.

I would say, the most important thing I am proud of about that day is I never did a trial run on the bride, as she lives in Colorado. So I was really taking a shot in the dark. I knew nothing about her hair, I was going by various pictures she sent me, and what she liked and didn't like. Still, her hair came out perfect. She loved it!

Weddings are just beautiful. I can create such impressive artwork out of their hair which makes it much better.

  • Tell us something customers may not know about you.
  • I am an outdoorsy person. When I am not working, I am in blue jeans, and a T-shirt. I love to fly fish, and I love to go for wheeling.

  • What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
  • We do this at Roots Salon, any client who recommends someone to us, you receive 20% off your next service which can be anything, and the new person coming in also receives 20% off their service as well, which also can be any service.
