- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
We had an elderly customer who really needed the service of a roofing professional. Yet, she was so afraid due to all of the flight-by-night choices and the same type all over the news for fraud.
Luckily, a neighbor was familiar with not only our business, but the S & S family as well. After being referred to her, she announced a stubborn leak that just wouldn't go away. She'd already had the insurance company to take a look and they said it must be the wear and tare of her roof. The roof was 9 years old. So, we went out to evaluate this issue only to find wind-damaged shingles and bruising to a large majority of her roof caused by hail. After showing her the many pictures taken of this damage and discussing the different options available, she decided to call the insurance company back out.
The same adjuster was assigned and met with us to evaluate the roof. After a couple of hours, the adjuster was unsure of damages, so we stepped in to assist as a roofing professional. After pointing out the wind and hail damage to the adjuster, he himself agreed and couldn't thank us enough for the assistance.
With that being said, the insurance company paid for her loss (entire roof). And, not only was that stubborn leak taken care of, she got a brand new roof installed by the best!
She was nearly in tears for all that we were able to accomplish for her. Can't say we didn't feel the same way at that point. After her loss of her husband and many more close to her within a short time period, she seemed to feel so alone and helpless with the major task(s) owning a home can have. We're happy to say that we personally check in with her routinely. We do whatever we can to lift the burden of little issues around the house by donating just a few hours here and there to see that smile and sigh of relief a little help can bring.

At S & S, every "oh so important" question a property owner should ask is answered and additional information is provided -- all before we come to your home!
Again, unfortunately we here at S & S have become a "rare breed" in the industry. That's why we are here to provide you with a few "oh so important" questions for those roofing contractors you're looking to invite in your home:
A) Are they appropriately licensed in your State and County (not just for third trade, but for the county's business license and revenue and their corp. registered with your state)?
B) Are they insured and do they use subcontractors?
C) Request at least 3 references in your area.
D) Do they need money upfront? Do not ever pay a $1 upfront. Never! Almost every contractor disaster story has to do with and/or pertains to the property owner paying their contractor upfront.
E) Check out the contractor through your local / state BBB (Better Business Bureau).
S & S is an accredited business, and we recommend only doing business with accredited businesses. Although the BBB has information on just about every business accredited or not, always search their name / DBA to gather all you can prior to hiring!

We work with just about every roofing and siding product (of quality) available.
There are a few less than professional-grade materials available. Some contractors offer them because they are cheap, but not us. If we offer it, we believe in it and we're certified to install it! Quality is guaranteed in S & S.
