- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
Good tech support should go unnoticed. That is to say that a good tech will be constantly working behind the scenes to make sure everything is in good working order rather than responding to catastrophes. Time is money, and any good tech realizes that and will do everything they can to get business back in business.
- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
I helped a client devise a method of remotely monitoring his vineyard 200 miles away via IP cameras connected via 3G. I also deployed an audio system that allows him to speak into a microphone at his home in San Mateo, CA, and have it playback through outdoor wireless speakers in Redding, CA.
- What brands or products do you work with?
I endorse the following brands:
- Cisco
- Antec
- Corsair
- Crucial
- G.Skill

- Tell us something customers may not know about you.
Aside from indulging in all things nerd, I also play bass guitar in an indie rock band Two Star Hotel. We play shows all across the bay area. I also enjoy staying in shape by running and weight lifting.
- What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
Q: Why is my computer so much slower than when I first bought it?
A: There's a number of factors the cause performance issues with older computers. I would say the number one cause is the accumulation of applications that occupy background processes that are constantly sucking up valuable CPU cycles and memory.
It's important to be cautious of what applications you install as well as what software they may be bundled with. Stay on top of your spyware and virus scans as well.
- What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
Documentation of network and workstation information, passwords for everything as well as warranty service history records.
- How did you get started?
I have always been drawn to computers and technology as a whole since I was very young. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to computers while I was in the first grade, and I began my tinkering and learning process not long after, and I have kept with it since.
- What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
Purchase refurbished hardware or seek guidance from a qualified computer consultant to decide whether or not a new computer is needed.

Nick was able to identify and resolve an issue I had with my laptop that no one else would or could and I didn't have to break the bank to get it fixed. I would recommend SunPoint to anyone!

A few months back I had some computer problems and not being a "techy", I contacted SunPoint IT Solutions. The guy who responded to my call, Nick, set up a time to meet with me after discussing the issues over the phone. He had to take my computer back to his office for the repair but delivered it back to me the following day with all issues resolved. I found this company to be reliable and very reasonably priced. They also followed up afterward to confirm that the problems had indeed been solved. My thumb is WAY UP with regard to SunPoint IT Solutions.
