About The Skylight Specialist

Since 1980 we have specializing in skylight installations and skylight repairs. Our range of service includes acrylic domed (plastic)skylights, tubular skylights and Velux skylights. We can recommend the proper style,size and product that best meets your need. If sized properly skylights do not let in heat. All of our work carries a five year no leak guarantee. • We offer a five year no leak guarantee. If you have any roof issues involving the skylight installation or other area of the roof we can take care of any situation.

  We ALWAYS leave the work area clean. You would never know our crew was there!

• What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?

• Always get three estimates and compare apples to apples! If your contractor can't answer your question on how they are going to seal your skylight properly, be aware!

• We have been in business for thirty years. Our skylights don't leak, if you know what you are doing you don't have problems. We have customer referrals in your neighborhood.

• How many projects do you average in a year?
A.

• We install skylights and tubular skylights five days a week. Some projects take longer than one day but we never leave your home unprotected from the weather at any time.

• What types of jobs are the most common?

• Kitchens and bathrooms are the most common installation. We install skylights in living rooms and bedrooms. We can install blinds that can completely black out the skylight light for day sleepers or partially cut back the light.

• We are Tucson born and bred, our employees have been with us for over twenty years. We know our stuff!

• Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
A.

• One of the most interesting installations we did this summer was to custom build a large retractable skylight that was installed over an atrium. Our customer rescues exotic birds and needed to create an environment that the birds would feel most comfortable. The skylight was so large it had to be lifted onto the roof by a crane. The birds and the customer were pleased!

• What areas of your trade do you specialize in?

• Skylight installations and repairs. Any type of skylight,acrylic domed skylights, tubular skylights and Velux skylights and Velux suntunnels. For over thirty years we have been installing skylights, we can recommend the right size, style and location. We are ready to accommodate any issues that may arise from electrical, plumbing or duct work that is in the attic or on the roof.

  We also repair and recoat roofs.We specialize in lowering scuppers and any specialty situations that are causing leaks or ponding water on your roof.

• What brands or products do you work with?
A.

• Velux skylights are the Cadillac of skylights, they are energy star rated.The engineering is far superior from standard domed skylights, they are effectively air tight. When we install acrylic domed skylights we always recommend at least a double dome skylight, similar to a dual pane window concept. We also install tubular skylights that are manufactured in Arizona, Elite Solar Skylights.

• What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?

• How many years have you been installing skylights? What products do you use when installing the skylight or tube? What steps do you take to insure the skylight or tube will not leak? Can you provide referrals? What size and type skylight is the best for my situation?

• What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
A.

• Is my skylight going to leak? Not if you know what you are doing.

  Will the skylight let in a lot of hear? It is very important to install the right size and style to eliminate that problem.

  I want to get as big a skylight as I can? Be careful to put too big a skylight in because it can let in too much heat. You don't need a large skylight to let in sufficient light.

• How did you get started?
A.

• In the early 80's there was a small recession. We installed a skylight in a remodel job we were doing and the customer was very pleased. We found that skylights are an inexpensive way to improve your work space, being a kitchen or bathroom. No more turning the light on during the day. We found our niche and have been brightening people's homes and businesses ever since. It is very energy efficient product!
