About TruColors Striping
We are a small family-owned business servicing Austin and its surrounding areas.
We offer line striping and all pavement marking services for your parking lot, including stenciling and ADA. We now offer hot pour crackfill, sealcoat, asphalt repair, and our proudest addition is our new Applied 414 RS sweeper. It is capable of picking up large items such as beer bottles and will crush them up. We truly grown into a full service parking lot maintenance company.
We also do pressure washing along with various other parking lot jobs. We have been in this industry for 13 years now.
We are ecofriendly, which is important to us as Austin residents. We care about our environment, and that is what makes us stand out.
Another thing, I am the owner/operator. That means you deal with just me. I am ALWAYS at all job sites. My work reflects who we are as your parking lot specialists. We are proud to be a member of the famous Austin mom-and-pop business scene.
We are now BBB accredited and backed by the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce!!
Questions and answers
- What brands or products do you work with?
I prefer to spray chlorinated rubber because it withstands the Texas heat best. I have high hopes that they will eventually revolutionize latex, so it works better in this heat. I buy my paints from both Sherwin Williams and from a local distributor based out of San Antonio.
- What are the most frequent questions you get from customers? What are the answers?
Do you offer sweeping services?
NOW WE DO!! We just acquired an Applied 414 RS for sweeping parking lots. It has the capability to suck up and crush beer bottles. We are quite proud of this new expansion of ours because it officially makes us a truly independent full service parking lot maintenance company.
- What questions should a customer ask before hiring a professional in your trade?
The most important question you should ask is if they are insured. There are too many fly-by-night operations that give the real contractors a bad name.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
- Line Striping
- Pressure Washing
- Line Removal
- Stenciling
- Stop Bars
- Hot pour crackfill
- Sealcoating
- Parking lot sweeping
- H/C Parking (ADA compliance)
- Wheel Stops
- Fire Lanes
- Loading Zones
- Bike Trails
- Athletic Fields, Airports, and so much more!
- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
Line striping is about the quality of materials laid down. It is important to consider how your parking lot is laid up, are you in the shade? Direct sunlight? There are tons of questions that people never think of when it comes to their parking lot. Ask them. Think about it as a book cover for your business.
- Tell us something customers may not know about you.
We are a Deaf family owned business. My wife and I are both Deaf. We have two children, 11 and 3, the eldest is Deaf and the youngest is hearing. It has been interesting having a hearing child within our world.
- What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
I guarantee my work. If it fails due to poor adhesion on my end, I will fix it. I stand behind my work and take pride in it. Without effort, one can't accomplish enough.
- How did you get started?
I started by parking cars. I was a valet for 12 years. I put myself through college parking cars.
When I finished college, I wanted to start my own business. I started up a small general contractor business doing home remodels. The economy and my disability sunk me last year.
I was in business for 5 years and learned a lot. I felt that the best thing to do was to choose something that I did very well over those 5 years, and that was parking lot maintenance.
How does me being a valet affect painting? Well, standing in there for 12 years teaches you a lot. I see things that the average person does not see. Streamlining lots to better stack cars was also one of my main jobs. This helps me better figure out your new layout if you have one!
TruColors Striping launched only last January, but we are excited about the possibilities of success with this.
- What types of jobs are the most common?
- Parking Lots
- Parking Garages
- Roadways
- Curbs
- Shopping Centers
- Hotels
- Gas Stations
- Small Businesses, and so much more!
- What information do you recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in your trade?
I would have the address of the location readily available, a list of services requested, a time frame of when you would like the job completed.
- How many projects do you average in a year?
I only went into business this past January, so at the time of this posting, I have done approximately 100 small to medium parking lots and 3 very large ones including a large parking garage.
- What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
Line striping is absolutely an economical way to rejuvenate your business's image. Remember, your parking lot is the first and last thing that people see when they come to your place of business. Your parking lot immediately projects the image of your business. How does your parking lot look? What does it's appearance say about your business?
- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
I'm proud of all my jobs and stand behind them, but the one that makes me beam is what I did for The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre. I relaid every aspect of that parking lot and transformed it. They were so happy that they gave me a lot of other work. Hospitals can be very stringent when it comes to their contractors. When one calls you back, you can't help but smile.
- What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
I have no certifications of any kind. I am bettering myself by putting myself onto various bidders' lists. I am also going through the whole process of being certified as a minority business as well as a disadvantaged business. We are a deaf family doing this.
