Questions and answers
- How many projects do you average in a year?
We not only support the Alzheimer's Association, but also participate in various other organizations through non-profits, churches & schools. We're proud to be a part of the communities in which we serve.
- How did you get started?
The owner, Page Cole, was a minister in various churches for over 23 years. He had a passion for seniors, and so he purchased this franchise in 2006. Currently they provide nearly 3000 hours worth of care around the Tulsa Metro and Bartlesville metro areas.
- What certifications or professional affiliations do you have?
Page Cole is a licensed home health care administrator in the state of Oklahoma, as is Tina Black, the administrator of our Bartlesville office. Both agencies are licensed in the State of Oklahoma to provide personal care services to seniors in their homes as well as to seniors in assisted living facilities.
- What do you wish customers knew about your profession or trade?
The best hidden secret is in reference to money available to veterans and their spouse/widow. If they qualify, they can receive between $1,200 and $2,200 PER MONTH to help pay for our services in the home. We have a contact that will come to the home of the client to help them complete the paperwork to send in to the Veteran's Administration. This benefit is called the "Aid & Attendance Benefit".
- What would you recommend customers looking to save money?
We encourage our clients to call around, but to ask the questions we mentioned earlier regarding drug tests, background checks & experience. We also offer the Freedom Alert as a way to provide peace of mind when our Visiting Angels staff is not on duty. This saves the family money by allowing them to provide less hands on care, but still have peace of mind about the safety of their loved one.
- What types of jobs are the most common?
Our typical client has us in their home to provide care for 4 hours per day, 5 days per week. We are able to do laundry, cook and do the dishes, do some housekeeping or errands. For others, we are helping them into or out of bed, with dressing and bathing, and other personal care. We customize the schedule and the care to the needs of the client.
- Tell us about the project or job that you are most proud of (in the last 12 months).
We partner with the Alzheimer's Association every year to raise funds for Alzheimer's research and assistance to families affected by Alzheimer's disease. This national partnership has resulted in the over 425 Visiting Angels franchises raising thousands and thousands of dollars for this worthy cause.
- What areas of your trade do you specialize in?
We are non-medical home care providing services primarily to seniors. We do cooking, cleaning, laundry, medication reminders, errands, shopping, pet care and more. In personal care, we provide respite care for Alzheimer's patients, bathing, assistance with incontinence or ambulation issues, and assistance with dressing.
- Tell us something customers may not know about you.
We are specialists in providing 24 live in care. Many seniors want desperately to stay in their own home, but they need someone there. If our staff is able to get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep, and another 3 hours later, then that client is eligible to pay a flat rate of $265 per day, rather than the $17 to $19 per hour. This is very affordable, and only slightly more expensive than most skilled care facilities. The client is able to stay home, and has one on one care, unlike facilities.
- What services do you provide your customers after the work has finished?
We also provide companionship. Many of our clients live alone and are homebound, so we may be one of the very few live interactions they have with people.
We also offer a product called Freedom Alert.
It is an emergency fall device. This device is unique in that there is no monthly fee, unlike every other device on the market. It also can be set up to call up to four personal phones before ever calling 911.
- What brands or products do you work with?
We have a program called the Visiting Angels Advantage program. Through this program we have built various partnerships with a variety of vendors. These vendors offer discounts on everything from hearing aid batteries to eye glasses to oil changes at Sears. These benefits are free of charge to clients of Visiting Angels.
