Exhaust pipe

Definition

A pipe through which the by-products of gas combustion, such as in a gas engine or a gas fireplace, for example nitrogen, water vapor, and carbon dioxide, are released outside.

Cost Considerations

An exhaust vent for a gas fireplace can cost from $500 to $1,000, which is much cheaper than a chimney for a wood-burning fireplace. Installing a wood-burning fireplace and chimney can cost upwards of $8,000.

Costs vary greatly by region (and even by zip code). To get free estimates from local contractors, please indicate yours.
