Fiberglass

Definition

Plastic that is reinforced with glass fibers. The fibers may be mixed randomly throughout the plastic, or come in the form of a flat sheet, or be woven into a fabric.

Glass-reinforced Plastic (GRP), Glass-fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP), Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic

Cost Considerations

There are cheaper options than fiberglass for swimming pools, such as vinyl and concrete, but those options usually require components to be replaced more often, which could lead to higher cost overall. A fiberglass pool can also do more to improve a home's resale value than the other options. A fiberglass pool costs from $20,000 to $45,000 installed.
