Lawn Aeration

Definition

The process of putting small holes into a lawn to break up compacted soil so that air, water, and nutrients can more easily reach the roots of the grass, allowing them to grow deeper.

Things you need to know

Aeration can be done either by a solid spike that creates holes in the lawn, or by removing small plugs of grass. The latter method is most beneficial.

Cost Considerations

Lawn aeration costs $120 to $150 on average and should be done two to three times per year.

Costs vary greatly by region (and even by zip code). To get free estimates from local contractors, please indicate yours.
