Questions and Answers

  • How many projects do you average in a year?
In the 00's when everyone was flush I was doing more than one wedding a week. I'm not shooting as many weddings, but I shoot corporate gigs more regularly. I'd say I shoot over 50 jobs a year.
  • What types of jobs are the most common?
I shoot more architectural jobs than you might think, the interiors and exteriors of businesses. Mostly I do portraits and events.
  • What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
If you are planning an event, you need to get the venue locked in before anything else. The venue sets the day, and there is no point in hiring anything else until that is taken care of.
  • What kind of questions do customers ask you?
Are you available on my day? -Maybe
  • What are you most proud of?
I just did a photo shoot for 7 and 10 year old sisters. Kids can be hard because if they don't like you they won't pretend. We had so much fun that they didn't want to stop, the mom had to drag them home. The shots are incredible.
  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
How many years of experience do you have? (For me, the answer is I started in 1990.)What go I get? Make sure you get prints if ou need them, or high resolution files if you want them You don't want to pay a lot for a shoot and then find you have to pay a lot for every other thing you get after the shoot.
  • Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
This depends on the client and the job. Wedding packages can come with albums and prints and online galleries.Portrait shoots can come with online galleries and prints.
  • What is important to know about your profession?
Don't let an amateur take your professional photos. It might seem like a good idea to save money, but there is a lot more to taking good photos than most people know.
  • What we may not know about you?
I traveled around the world for 2 years as a young man (heck I was a kid, 18 to 20) taking pictures and having lots of fun experiences.
  • How did you get started?
I've loved photography as long as I can remember. When I was 5 I walked up to my dad and Aunt and told them "I'd be a good photographer."
  • How can we save money hiring you?
One thing I do for clients looking to save money is you can have a package with lots of bells and whistles, or you can have me for a flat rate. It cost a lot if you want a full wedding album, but if you want more simple deliverables I can charge a lot less.
