Questions and Answers

  • What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Some research on the homeowners like going to town hall to obtain a plot planand finding out the zoning department has any issues with what you are trying to build. Also know what your budget will be and materials you would prefer for your project. This information will make negotiations run more smoothly.
  • How did you get started?
I have been in the industry for 30 years. I worked on roofs, framing and foundations. Started my business in 2007 and have never looked back.
  • How many projects do you average in a year?
We average anywhere from twenty to thirty projects annually and there is a mix of bigger and smaller projects within they range. We prioritize all our customers projects to the best of our abilities. Communication is key to all our customers.
  • What types of jobs are the most common?
Roofing and Decks are very common jobs for us. We can start and complete all exterior projects , additions and second story expansions
  • What is important to know about your profession?
That there are no easy jobs and all projects require planning, preparation and strong attention to all details big and small. Safety first.
  • What we may not know about you?
I believe in the golden rule and I believe in karma. I respect peoples choices. I welcome hard work and embrace all obstacles and challenges.
  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
  • Is the contractor licensed and insured?
  • How will the scheduling and communication be with your contractor?
  • Will there need to be a permit to proceed with project?
  • How can we save money hiring you?
I would recommend to the customer that the lowest price is not always the best price. Though they may think at first glance that there is savings it could easily unravel and cost them more than they anticipated and the work being done could suffer from an unrealistic quote.
  • What are you most proud of?
We just finished two school roofs in Plymouth Ma. They were each 7000 square feet. They took a 50 yr shingle. They were hip roofs with a flat top area which took epdm rubber. They were good size jobs and had some of everything.

Not many contractors that promise the world and deliver but Tom Williams of Bay State did just that. Tom and his crew came did what was promised, cleaned up after installing a new roof and were professional from start to finish. We did have a problem a few months later and Tom came up on a Sunday morning looked at our problem had it fixed in a short time in the pouring rain. Mind you this trip had nothing to do with the work he did, just another problem that he took care of for us.
Anyone looking for a general contractor would be amiss if they did not call for a consultation with Tom. Thanks for a job well done.
