Questions and Answers

  • How did you get started?
I started off working for family in construction and decided to get my general contractors license. Then I earned my C29-Masonry license, HIC -Home Improvement license. I started a handyman business. I really enjoyed plumbing as part of my handyman business. I transitioned next to earning my plumber license. Plumbing sticks and I enjoy the challenge it can bring on a daily business. For me it's sort of like figuring out a puzzle.
  • How can we save money hiring you?
Hire us because we charge by the job not by the hour! You know we are on your side because we aren't watching the clock!Consider: Flood prevention by changing supply lines - a key factor in maintaining whole house plumbing.Change out your water heater before it stops working or starts leaking. If you think it's old or needs maintenance- ask and we can help you.If you have a bathroom that you don't use to often go in a turn on and off the water to exercise the plumbing.
  • What types of jobs are the most common?
The most common types of jobs are toilet repairs, kitchen faucets, water heaters, and emergency flood, mold and restoration. Disposals and leaks under sinks are very frequent. Don't stress, call Carmel Valley Plumbing today and we will guide you through handling all these tough situations.
  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
Ask the contractor if he is licensed. Ask the contractor is he or she carrying workers compensation insurance and general liability insurance. If they do not I wouldn't let them in my house! A plumbing contractor should have a C36 license. The Contractor should be able to provide you with the card with his or her name and license number. Feel free to look this person up or ask for the license number when you are on the telephone to make the appointment so you can go to the State Contractor Board website to check the status of the license. Any reputable contractor with a website or on their business cards will list their license number. You will even be able to see if he or she carries workers compensation on their employees. Carmel Valley Plumbing is fully licensed, bonded and insured. License# 708643Be careful with a low quote promise from someone only to have them bump up the price once they are on the job! Hold them to their price or ask them to leave.
  • How many projects do you average in a year?
Too many to count actually. I have to check with my accountant on that one! I can say in the good years I had more staff and then it slowed with the economy. Yes plumbers do feel the effect of the slow economy. For example: A homeowner will close the door to the bathroom and use the other toilets in the home if they are low on money but eventually they call us. Projects over the years tend to even out. I would say more people want things handled before the holidays due to guests arriving.
  • What are you most proud of?
Daily I enjoy taking with customers and handling their projects. My favorite time is when a customer has tried handling the job him or herself. Poor person spent their entire weekend working on something only to make matters worse. Then they call Carmel Valley Plumbing and we come in and take care of the job in a matter of hours. The customer is super happy and so are we!
  • What kind of questions do customers ask you?
Costs, how long is my water heater going to last, and usually what do you charge for a particular service-that comes up a lot.
  • What we may not know about you?
The satisfaction I get from doing this is satisfying my customer and seeing a smile on their face. The business owner is happily married with three children. The owner enjoys spending time with his family and friends. The owner spends a lot of time working on projects in the garage.
  • Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
We warranty all labor & material. We follow up if there is a concern or a flooding issue. We are available by telephone or in person at the customer's request.
  • What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Water heater size really helps when you call us so we can be sure to show up with the correct water heater. The manufacture's name of your fixtures is helpful when discussing your plumbing issue over the telephone.
  • What is important to know about your profession?
Often times you may think plumbers charge a lot. Our trade is not an easy one and we are entitled to charge for our skill just the same as a Dentist or Doctor. In fact the plumbing trades person is slowly going away. It takes not just knowledge but know how, experience and strength to do the correct job.If you are hiring a truly licensed plumber they will be bonded. The Contractor's State Licence Board will not renew or give someone a license if they are not bonded. If you can't get a bond that means a lot of things such as you have bad credit, a police record, complaints or any number of outstanding issues. Carmel Valley Plumbing is licensed, bonded and fully insured. This is not a cheap process, however, we continue to pay our fees, maintain high standards, and follow the law.
