Ask the contractor if he is licensed. Ask the contractor is he or she carrying workers compensation insurance and general liability insurance. If they do not I wouldn't let them in my house! A plumbing contractor should have a C36 license. The Contractor should be able to provide you with the card with his or her name and license number. How many projects do you average in a year?
Too many to count actually. I have to check with my accountant on that one! I can say in the good years I had more staff and then it slowed with the economy. Yes plumbers do feel the effect of the slow economy. For example: A homeowner will close the door to the bathroom and use the other toilets in the home if they are low on money but eventually they call us. Projects over the years tend to even out. I would say more people want things handled before the holidays due to guests arriving.

What is important to know about your profession?
Often times you may think plumbers charge a lot. Our trade is not an easy one and we are entitled to charge for our skill just the same as a Dentist or Doctor. In fact the plumbing trades person is slowly going away. It takes not just knowledge but know how, experience and strength to do the correct job.If you are hiring a truly licensed plumber they will be bonded. The Contractor's State Licence Board will not renew or give someone a license if they are not bonded. If you can't get a bond that means a lot of things such as you have bad credit, a police record, complaints or any number of outstanding issues. Carmel Valley Plumbing is licensed, bonded and fully insured. This is not a cheap process, however, we continue to pay our fees, maintain high standards, and follow the law.
