Questions and Answers

  • How can we save money hiring you?
Ask a lot of questions. Price compare on line. Buy our own materials for the remodel and have them installed or install the appliances yourself if you can.
  • How many projects do you average in a year?
30-40 projects during a year. That includes Custom Home Builder, High End Homes, Residential Remodeling (Basements, room additions, lofts, out door living areas, kitchen & baths), and Tenant Improvements.
  • Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
A full walk thru of project, creating a punchiest of items that may need to be completed, but usually there is not one. A follow up survey with a satisfaction call follow up, asking if everything was completed to the clients satisfaction.
  • What we may not know about you?
Remodeling is a service, not a product. All remodeling projects havehundreds of variables, so you can not price a remodel by the square foot.
  • What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
Check credentials (license & general liability insurance), Check reputation, references, letters of recommendation, ask about any Warranties, who will pull all the required building permits?, and who will be the main point of contact for the project?
  • What are you most proud of?
A five-bedroom, five-bath, 5,000 square foot home in Danville was in need of a make-over. Originally, the family room had a shed roof from the first floor to second floor hallway that didn'??t leave sufficient head room in the hallway, and reduced the view. The roof was removed and replaced with a gable end roof.New windows added more light and a view of the swimming pool. The kitchen was white-on-white and needed a makeover to meet the homeowners?? sense of style as well as improve the family work space. A serene, contemporary look was on the homeowners?? wish list. No beige need apply! A moderncolor palette, slightly retro, with interesting architectural touches. We completed their wish list.
  • What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
For our first meeting, prepare a ??wish list?? of issues you'??d like to address. Order them by priority.
  • Is it more important to have a larger laundry area or a fancy French door off the bedroom balcony?
  • If costs exceed your allotted budget, which items would you cut first? Think about why you want to change or add space.
  • Is the kitchen too small for your growing family needs?
  • Do you need to add an in-law suite for aging parents?
  • How will the renovation enhance your lifestyle?
Draw a sketch of what you envision to illustrate your ideas. Look through magazines about remodeling or decorating, noting those items that appeal to you. Devote serious thought about your budget parameters. Investigate how you will finance the project. Home equity loans, cash from savings accounts and refinancing are common choices. While a renovation or new home construction may seem daunting, when broken down into steps, it is easier to understand and manage.
  • What types of jobs are the most common?
We do a lot of kitchen and bath remodels. Next are room additions and basement upgrade and Tenant Improvements.

Jim and his team are the best! I have recommended them to anyone looking for a contractor. They are extremely professional and talented. We could not be happier with the work they have done on our home. I would very highly recommend CRC builders for your home remodel!

I have worked with CRC on many projects, both large and small. We have just completed a small winery and guest house and can recommend CRC and Jim Pitcher without reservation. Jim is responsive, available, always professional and manages his sub contractors and permanent staff very well. The work of CRC is high quality and the budgets and timelines realistic. He will never be the cheapest bid you get, but you get what you pay for.

I was fortunate to be introduced to CRC Builders Inc in 2012 by a neighbor. In 2012-2013 CRC carried out extensive modifications to my home, reworking the ineffective/missing waterproof flashing on both upper floor logias, surrounds of two large windows above the house main entry door and complete replacement of a surface drain on a travertine tiled terrace.
Work involved temporarily removing and replacing cast concrete balustrades/piers and pillars and opening the tiles decks. Source of the leakages into the rooms below was found to be inadequate flashing. On completion of this repair extensive work CRC employees put the logias back in perfect watertight and visual condition.
Jim Pitcher himself opened the interior ceilings and walls, replaced the damaged sheet rock. CRC then painted the interior walls and re-stuccoed the exterior walls to match the undamaged parts.
Surface leaking surface drain was replaced in its entirety. The tiles in way of the drain were removed and replaced on completion of the work. Jim Pitcher worked with me is designing a two tier surface drain and personally designed and installed piping from the drain to route the water into an existing subsoil drainage system. On completion of this project the area matched the existing undisturbed surrounds
Since this major work I have employed CRC to:
Re-grout the master bath shower
Remove the existing (leaking) chimney cap. Found the re-modellers had actually driven nails thru the "waterproof" pan. CRC then installed a new support structure for a custom copper cap and supervised the crane lift and installation of the large copper cap.
Latest CRC project on my home was to completely rework the flashings between all vertical stuccoed walls and the travertine terrace and both logias.
After 8+ years of watching small wet patches on the interior ceilings and walls of my home CRC Builders have reworked the shoddy workmanship of the remodeling contractors subs and I now have a tight, leakproof, home!

Hiring CRC Builders was the best decision possible for us! They have held our hand every step of the way when we found ourselves in a nightmare situation: Where we needed to rip the entire side of our house off and to then rebuild it, and with a 20-40 foot drop down to the sloped hillside! They have been on time, accurate, and easy to work with at all times! Jim and his whole crew have always been responsive when we have had questions, and they have even come out to help us at 9pm when an unexpected wind storm caused problems with us temporarily having no walls on one side of the house.
We are in the final stage of completing the project, and we are already asking Jim to quote us on our next remodeling project - it is a big relief when you finally know that you are in great hands!

FIRST CLASS! As many will agree, finding a contractor who is honest, reliable, and does high quality work is hard to find. CRC Builders is all that and more. The team is highly skilled and resourceful. I appreciate their attention to detail and consultative approach. Their team has high standards which I like. The team is very customer focused and genuinely cares about the vision of each project. I am always kept up to date with each stage of the project, including with pictures! Without hesitation I recommend CRC Builders for any high end residential project. THANK YOU CRC Builders Team!
