Questions and Answers
What is important to know about your profession?
Tile is not, and should be, a lick and stick operation. A lot of our customers think we can be in and out in a day. That is generally not the case- especially with floors. The tile has to have time to set. When there are borders and eyelines involved it adds another layer of time and labor to the project as well. If you want a great looking tile job, don't rush the professional. We care about the look and durability of the finished product. We will get it done and get it done right.
I had been in and out of construction for most of my young adult life. The contractor I ended up working under decided to retire his tile profession and taught me how to run my own business. I've been in it now for over 10 years. When I got married in '06, my wife joined me in this tile business adventure and we have been a tile team duo ever since.
How can we save money hiring you?
Contract Furnishings Mart will sell to us, your tile contractor, and get you pretty close to wholesale pricing for some great stone/tile products. The price listed in the store is not the price they sell to us for. We get it cheaper. Let them know we are your contractor, and you can get our discount. Most of our customers who have gone through them have been quite pleased with the savings.
What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
- How long have you been in the profession?
- When doing a bathroom remodel- "Have you heard of Wedi products"?
- What do you recommend for tile sealer?
- Do you think this will look all right- or do you have recommendations?
Any questions you have regarding tile should be asked. It will give you a better feel for what kind of professional you are working with.
What are you most proud of?
We had to do a master bathroom, guest bathroom, and kitchen in just 10 days. We were there from early till late, but we made the deadline. It had deco-design in the floor and both the showers. We had to seriously plan out our days to make sure we got done anything that would hold us up. It was crazy, busy, bust-a-move fast. By the end of it, we were exhausted, but it all turned out great and we got it done just in time.
How many projects do you average in a year?
We would have a hard time averaging what projects we do in a month much less a year. It's feast or famine in this industry. A lot of people consider tile a luxury; but when one considers the longevity of it, it truly is a great investment to a lasting home... especially when it's installed right, sealed right, and the like. Our "projects" range from 1 day to 5 months... it just depends on the size and number of rooms we're doing.
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
We have a five-year warranty on our installation, so any problem that may come up we can come back and attend to. We also offer to come back and seal the project several days after completion (so the grout and thinset has a chance to cure). The sealer we use has a life-time warranty on it and we have been certified to use it. We also have a cleaning service we offer- all construction produces dust regardless of how careful your contractor is, so we can come and do a deep-clean upon request.
