Questions and Answers
How can we save money hiring you?
I recommend starting all service requests with a budget. If you have to put it on a credit card because you don't have the liquid assets to pay for the service then you are not setting a realistic budget. The majority of residential audio and video services are luxury services, and are generally earned by those who can comfortably afford to purchase products and services to compliment their life style. Having said that, You must look at each aspect of any installation to determine what is most important. Take Televisions for example. Is the size more important than the picture quality, brand, contrast ratio, features and thickness? Find out what is most important and budget for that one thing. In whole house audio systems, often the goal is to outfit rooms with speakers that can fill the room with sound evenly, this can mean up to 4 speakers in a room and can get costly, instead of choosing cheaper speakers, perhaps think more realistically about weather a room needs speakers at all. For example do you really think you will listen to music in the formal living room, more than the kitchen and family room? There is always a way to save money on a project just be careful not to cut corners on things that matter most to you.
What we may not know about you?
I spend hours every evening, learning and researching about my trade, about new products, about each job I have on the table and what I can do to make it the best installation for my customers.
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
After work has been completed, the work area is thoroughly vacuumed and wiped down for dust and debris. Our customers get a detailed invoice showing the work and materials that have been furnished and performed. The invoice states a 1 year warranty for all labor and materials furnished by Eveleigh Audio Video and we stand by that warranty. In addition we are available for updates to the systems, advice, and continued education or product training. We know that operating Audio/Video equipment these days is complicated and daunting. The owner of Eveleigh Audio Video builds relationships with his clients and keeps in touch with them for many years after a project.
How many projects do you average in a year?
We Average about 80 projects a year. They range from a simple flat panel wall mounting, to a full home audio/ video system installation with home automation and control system.
What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
Hire only licensed contractors.Get three references and review past work.Get a written contract and don't sign anything until you completely understand terms. For inexpensive and quick projects a simple agreement is sometimes the perfect contract. For long and expensive projects, make sure the contract is detailed and makes sense.Pay 10% down or $1,000 whichever is less.Avoid paying in cash.Always get detailed descriptions of work and read them thoroughly to avoid confusion and disagreements later about the scope of work performed.
As the owner, I began my interest in the A/V field back in 2001 when I took a job up at a major electronics retailer. I worked as an installation technician for car audio and electronics. I worked for 4 years in that industry before switching over to residential A/V. I worked as a security and smart home technologies integrator with Guardian protection services. I then worked for a small custom integration company out of Chantilly VA, where I learned how to work with more high end projects. I started my own business in 2009 and have been growing through referrals and sites like these ever since.
What is important to know about your profession?
I wish customers new about the options they have when installing products in their home. Too often I see people whom have not taken the time to make sure the installation is clean, works with the space, works well, and provides a solution to the customer's need.
What are you most proud of?
We are proud of every project we do.
