In the Interior Decorator trade, we specialize in custom window treatments and upholstery. Although we fill many skills in this trade our in house workroom is equipped to deliver professionally designed, manufactured, and installation services for our window treatments and the detailed skills of reupholstering sofas, chairs, headboards, auto/marine seats and cushions.
We work with different brands and products. In fabrics we use many, many textile designers from Kravet, Kast, Kovi, Waverly, Sunbrella, Kirsch to name a few. There are also other resources that we use as well.

The job that I am most proud of is decorating a 7000 sq. ft home from start to finish. This was a huge task for my company from measuring, manufacturing and installing 18' custom draperies to upholstering sofas and chairs, cornices, pillows, wall decor, floral arrangements, rugs and artwork, to furniture selection. This job took months to complete but every time I look back at the photos or pay a visit to this client, my heart warms and I feel a sense of accomplishment for a job well done.
I got started in this industry in 1981 after watching my mother sew for years. While in high school I started designing and making my own clothes. Soon I started sewing for others. In 1982, I was commissioned by my brother to reupholster 2 bucket seats for a cargo van. From there, I made my first set of drapes with swag and jabots. The rest is history. Over the years I've honed my skills in every aspect of sewing but my greatest accomplishments have been designing and decorating homes, businesses, and customizing automobiles.
From the look and quality of my work, customers may not know that I do not have any formal training from any institution. I was born with this seed for creating and designing. Over the years, I have honed my skills for what I desire to do. I have to create, I love creating beautiful things and I love to beautify spaces, add little touches that makes the look.
In a years time, my company averages between 15-30 jobs or more depending on the size, details, and location of the job.
I wish that customers knew that there's a great deal that goes into my profession or trade. Not all design or decorating jobs "just happen". Depending of the complexity of the desired outcome of a job, a lot of consideration, research, and time goes into preparing and planning a space. Many wants the "Genie in the Bottle" affect but for us, it's "WORK".
My recommendations for customers looking to save money is that you really do get what you pay for . Although there are definitely corners that can be cut when it comes to some things. But when it comes to your space, make it you at all cost. This is where you live, your home, your sanctuary, inner sanctum, it should reflect who you are. You should feel at home with your decisions. Making sacrifices because of lack of money is one thing, making sacrifices to save you money is another. If the money is there and you're decorating your space, Decorate it.
A customer should ask 1. Are you an Interior Designer or Interior Decorator. In my case, I am an interior decorator. Although I have extensive experience in reconstruction and redesign, I have an eye for decorating and the skill to manufacture most if not all of the necessary decorating elements from window treatments, upholstery, furniture pieces to lighting to name a few. 2. What are your responsibilities? I am responsible for creating the agreed upon atmosphere and product the client is searching for in a timely manner. 3. What is the time frame for completion? I would like the customer to feel comfortable with choosing my company for their job. And in doing so, I must work within the expected time frame where it is possible.
The most frequent question that I get from customers are: 1) Where did you learn to do all this "stuff"? That's the funny one because most clients are baffled by my abilities. I learned to do this "stuff" from dreams. As odd as that sounds to many, I've learned to crochet in my dream. I learned to sew, watching my mother from a far. I learned to build things from a strong desire but each piece was meticulously broken down and dissected during dreams, then I would get up, and start the process of trial and error for the finished product.
Other than price and time frame, another more frequent question is: how can we help you? I'm more than thankful to have clients who see the great potential in me and what I do to want to help further my career, my business. But, even though their intentions may be as pure as the driven snow, I am definitely afraid of losing control of what I'm working so hard to have.
The jobs that are most common for my company is reupholstering for refurbishing furniture pieces and window treatments of all kinds and sizes. Other than painting a wall or adding wallpaper, reupholstering an old sofa or chair adds new life to a room. Incorporating the "shades" to the eyes of a home adds beauty, security and privacy to any room. A cornice or valance adds that little touch that just says, "ahhhhh", nice.
The information I recommend to have readily available before looking for a professional in my trade is your budget, and have an idea of what it is you hope to accomplish in decorating your space.
After the work is done, we offer drapery take down and reinstall for cleaning. We offer home staging for customers who just want a fresh new look after a period of time. We also keep in contact with customers for home shopping for items that we feel the customer might want to add to their decor.
