Questions and Answers
What are you most proud of?
In November and December of 2012, we put all the finishing touches on a customers cabin. My customers had acted as their own general contractors and after a long four years of building they were ready to be done with the process. They hired my company to finish the rest of the project so that they could finally enjoy their labor of love. We did all the interior finishes, like hickory pre- finished hardwood floors, hickory stained millwork and doors. We installed barn door hardware and doors to solve the issue of wanting to separate a space and yet have an open feeling without the doors opening out into the room.We installed the rest of the flooring and backsplash tile and arranged the installation of the granite kitchen counter tops. With the work done at their cabin we were asked if we would be interested in remodeling their full time residence. Of course.
What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured and can we verify all of them? Do you have photos of previous work and customer references? What experience do you have that relates to our project?
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
We have a one year guarantee on all of our workmanship and should any of the materials fail before their time we will go to bat for the customer to make sure the issue is resolved.
How many projects do you average in a year?
We might do three to six larger projects and then we do a lot of small one day to week long projects. In between those jobs, we are doing home maintenance and emergency repairs.
What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Know exactly what it is you want or at least a good idea.
What is important to know about your profession?
Cost does matter when it comes to workmanship. Just because its cheaper doesn't mean you are getting the same quality as if you would have spent a little more.
What kind of questions do customers ask you?
The most frequent question is, How long will this take and how much is it going to cost? The answers are, "let me get a bid together and we can go over it and if you approve and want to move forward I can give you a schedule with a finish date."
What types of jobs are the most common?
Home maintenance and upgrading outdated items.
How can we save money hiring you?
Spend some time researching the products they want. Don't buy the first thing you are interested in. There are a lot of similar products out there that can be used that don't have the big brand name. Each project is different, but there always ways of getting the budget down.
What we may not know about you?
I have a degree in applied arts from the Art Institute of Seattle.
As a teenager I spent my summers helping my grandfather doing repairs around the house. During high school I worked on weekends and vacations for a friends construction company.Through the years I have always done my own home improvements and maintenance, as well as friends and neighbors homes. In 2001, my uncle asked me to join his company building custom homes and I have been doing it full time ever since.
