James Worked for a construction company that worked on multi million dollar houses and learned hardscape, drainage, foundations etc. He also worked for a window and siding company, as well as working for a framing company, where he became the foreman. Having learned so much information and the best techniques for various construction, when he was 23, he formed his own company. As we only take on one project at a time, it varies with the size and scope of the project. It can be anywhere from 12-50+
What is important to know about your profession?
Not all contractors are the same and not all contractors have the level of skill. I am sure you have heard the saying, "Anyone can build a deck". That is true, but whether you can build it well is another question. There are some very talented contractors out there, and some not so talented.
What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Size and budget. I fully understand why clients are weary of giving their budget, however, if you have a particular budget (as we all do), it is most helpful to know that in regards to getting the best bang for your buck.
How can we save money hiring you?
Depending on the project, we can always give tips on how to save some money. Sometimes, however, saving money does not give a better, more long lasting product. Therefore, all options can be considered.
What kind of questions do customers ask you?
How much will this cost? How long will it take? What is the schedule? Cost is the most important factor usually. How long it will take to build is the second. Length of time can vary though if there are hidden problems. What is the schedule? The schedule, in our industry and also because we are a "1 project at a time" company, can be greatly impacted by weather, rot, ledge, water and any number of other factors.
