Questions and Answers
-
How can we save money hiring you?
I know a contractor that has this phrase written underneath his logo: "The bitter taste of a poor job lingers long after the sweet taste of the lowest bid."
-
What are you most proud of?
A project for a government agency...a coordinated scheduled shut-down and restart of 20 office cubicles with power and data cat 5-e cabling to be up and running within 2 days. The job went very smoothly..we finished 24 hours early.
-
What we may not know about you?
I am a great music enthusiast..I almost always ask my customers if they play an instrument, or like to sing, or just like to listen to music...if they do, then I always invite them to the local "JAMS".
-
What kind of questions do customers ask you?
The most frequent questions asked of me are.."what do you recommend?", "Are you licensed, insured and bonded?"
-
What is important to know about your profession?
It would be good if the customer would keep in mind the training of a seasoned professional.....We get paid for what we know...not necessarily for what we do..if we are an honest businessman.
-
What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Again...check the current status of the professional's licenses and insurance...these can usually be found by contacting the Calif State Licensing Board...CSLB.
-
How many projects do you average in a year?
we average about 9 projects of a smaller size per year. Most of our projects are relatively small...meaning less than $10,000 for the electrical portion of the job. We also do many minor jobs, such as replacing broken switches, outlets, etc. We also install ceiling fans, and other small jobs of that nature.
-
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
All work guaranteed. All troubleshooting is guaranteed...if we don't locate the problem, you don't pay.
I started by wiring camper shells for Travel Queen, Inc...from there I went on to wiring mobile homes, then I went on to wiring houses. I continued my experience to include commercial and industrial wiring. I next went on to industrial maintenance wiring on machinery. I continued my wiring experience by completing a 4 year apprenticeship through the IBEW. I have been self employed since 1987.

What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
are you licensed? Are you insured? Do you guarantee your work? The customer should check with the CSLB to insure the contractor is actually licensed.

What types of jobs are the most common?
The most common types of jobs I encounter are simple (to me) repair and troubleshooting jobs. As far as projects are concerned, remodels are by far the most abundant.
