Piano lessons for children and adults, any level.
Classical music and music theory are a part of every lesson, but all other styles are important as well. My students are exposed to a variety of styles - classical, jazz, blues, popular, hymns, sing-along-songs, new age, etc.
I believe that learning an instrument is a challenge but should be fun. I hate to see students held down by the "you must do this my way" approach to teaching. Each person is different, therefore the way in which they are taught should be unique to their personality. I work with each student on his/ her own program. Depending on a student's goals, I provide a choice of several pieces, so they may choose those, that are most exciting for them.
Lessons are 30 minutes in length, once a week, although one hour lessons are available upon request.
My goal is to teach everyone to play, understand, appreciate music and enjoy it!

I am proud of all my students. Some of them made great music professionals; some of them keep playing music to relieve stress from work; some of them started enjoying music styles they have never heard before; some of them started composing their own music; some of them play together with their children; some of them play for church or make their own band; some of them improve their brain work.
Playing music is never "finished". It is a lifetime enjoyment and improvement. You can play the same music piece throughout the years, and it will never sound the same. It will depend on your mood at this particular moment, or on a person who you are playing for, and many other little and big circumstances.

I learned a lot from my own good and bad experiences. Oh, yes, from bad experience you can learn a lot.
When I was 7 years old, my mother took me to a piano teacher to introduce me to the piano.
The teacher was an older lady, very stern and controlling. She was a good teacher, but not my type of personality. She used to give me pieces to play, and never asked me if I liked the pieces. Finally, one of the songs I really HATED. I asked her if we could replace this piece with any other one. "No"-was her response. "I will not play it!" said I. "You will!" said she...
I ended up that evening hiding under the table, and my Mom could not get me out of there. I was crying, and saying "I will never play this stupid song any more, and I will never play the piano any more, and I hate music", and on, and on, and on....
Of course, I did not hate music. I came back to the piano. It happened after several years, and I was fortunate to learn music from a wonderful teacher, who was very intelligent, and understanding.
She was able to walk me through many music styles, even though I did not want to play them in the very beginning. She was able to show me the beauty of a style, and help me to understand what this music is saying to your heart and soul.
Well, this story was a great lesson for me. As a teacher, I want my students to enjoy music. When I introduce my student to a new piece, my first question is: "Do you like this music? Do you want to play it? What kind of music would you like to play? What is your favorite song?". I play for my students several pieces to see which one is more exciting for them. This makes a teacher's work harder, because I am always in search, preparing to my lessons, but it is exciting!
Music is for everyone. Not only for genius.
Practice your music at home as much as you can. You will have much faster progress.
