Questions and Answers
How many projects do you average in a year?
My company averages around 15 to 25 projects a year. The projects range from very small paint jobs to large scale 2 story additions.
I started as a carpenters apprentice when I was a junior in high school. I continued my apprenticeship until reaching journey person status in the industry at the age of 23. The very first project I worked on was a custom built home that took all of my summer in between junior and senior year of high school. After that job I knew that all I wanted to do was to make customers happy by giving them a beautiful place to live.
What are you most proud of?
Last year I had the privilege of repairing a house that was badly damaged by superstorm Sandy. The homeowners children had some special asthmatic needs that required keeping the jobsite super clean and mostly free of floating particulates. The job was completed on schedule and the family after months of uncertainty got to return to the house and enjoy it once again.
What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
Always ask for verification of liability insurance. Also ask what formal training they have in the specified trade you are hiring for as well as any ongoing education.
How can we save money hiring you?
I would recommend being as flexible as possible. Some of the name brand materials are charging for their name more than the actual quality of their product. You can save a bit of money with a switch of brand.
What types of jobs are the most common?
Most common jobs are small bathroom remodels and painting. Alot can be done to make a house seem new with a fresh coat of professionally done paint.
What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
Know what it is exactly that you want. Sit down and talk with the contractor about specifics and small things. Those are going to add up quickly and may push the boundaries of your budget. Be upfront about the exact amout you can spend on any given project.
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
After the work is finished we make sure all permits that were pulled have been satisfactorily closed and approved. We also do a follow up 90 days after the work has finished to ensure maximum fulfillment of our obligation.
