Questions and Answers
How many projects do you average in a year?
As many as I can get! I do hundreds of service calls a year.I average 20-40 small commercial spaces of adding new plumbing for stores, or for remodels of new store fronts.
What kind of questions do customers ask you?
Can you pull permits? Each project is different, so we provide a free on site quote.Do you offer a guarantee/ warranty?
Do you offer any service after finishing the work?
Final payout is not received till all work passes inspection.Lifetime guarantee on all craftsmanship.
What questions should a customer ask before hiring you?
- Are you licensed, bonded and insured?
- What kind of guarantee do you offer?
- Do you have references?
- Will you be at the project at all times?
How were you trained and how long have you been doing plumbing? Are you knowledgeable in IL plumbing codes?
My father was a Master Welder, so I was raised around plumbing and welding. Right out of high school, I joined the Union and did my 5-year apprenticeship. I was in the Union for 12 years, when I got laid off, I decided I would make my own destiny and I opened up MPT Plumbing Inc.
What do you recommend to know before hiring you?
What exactly do you want to see from your project. Changes in the middle of a rehab or renovation can be costly to the customer. We try and maintain the good habbit of sticking to the original price quoted!
What we may not know about you?
Although I am young at 38, I am raising 3 children and am a devoted man to the love of my life, Heather! I love animals and it's hard for me to say "no" to the kids when they want to adopt a new one. I am very close to my father who is a retired master welder and look forward to fishing with him every summer!
What is important to know about your profession?
The best plumbers were Union trained. Five years of schooling minimal, plus additional schooling every year to keep up your licenses. That is why we cannot charge handyman prices.
What types of jobs are the most common?
Build-outs of commercial spaces. Remodels of kitchens, baths and adding baths to basements. Those are common because they give the house a whole new look, add resale value, and usually add more space! Rehabbing of whole homes, a lot of business there right now! We do a lot of water heaters, roddings of drains, all types of service calls!
What are you most proud of?
My secretary also works for Home Depot. So she got me involved in doing a community outreach program in Elgin, IL. It didn't pay, but it felt good going house to house and fixing leaky faucets, hose bibs, toilets, ect... I did any and all minor plumbing repairs needed in a 3 block radius in a downtown area. It felt good to know that maybe I saved those 60-70 families a couple of bucks each month on their water bills!
How can we save money hiring you?
Don't hire a handyman. Go with a licensed professional right away. It may cost you a little extra upfront, but potentially save you a lot more in the long run!
