Types of JELD-WEN windows

One thing that sets JELD-WEN apart from many other window manufacturers is its wide range of window types. Their wide selection allows you to choose between typical and traditional windows, such as a single-hung window or a more lavish and eye-catching bay window. These windows can also be used in either new construction or as replacement windows.

Here are the window types that JELD-WEN has to offer.

Single Hung

A single-hung window is seen as a traditional window style and has been a common choice for homeowners for decades. It consists of two separate sashes, one on top of the other. Of these two sashes, the lower is moveable and can slide upwards while the upper sash is fixed in place.

Double Hung

The double-hung window is one of JELD-WEN’s most popular styles and is one you’re likely familiar with. This style features two large moveable sashes that can slide up and down. These sashes will be counterbalanced by either hidden weights or springs in the vertical side tracks.

Awning

The awning window will usually consist of a single window pane that can be opened and closed using a hand crank. An awning window will also open from the bottom with hinges that are located on top of the window.

Casement

Another common choice, a casement window is a single-panel window that opens horizontally on a side hinge, like a door. These windows can be opened and closed using a hand crank which allows for a tight seal and is more energy-efficient.

Sliding

Sliding windows consist of two or more sashes sitting side by side. The window opens by sliding one of the sashes to the left or right. In some styles, one sash will be moveable and the other fixed. In others, they will both be moveable.

Bay

A bay window is a three-sectioned window that extends out from an external wall. This window style fills your home with natural light and creates extra space in your interior. A bay window usually consists of a fixed window in the middle with two moveable windows on either side.

Bow

A bow window is often seen as a subtype of a bay window. It consists of four to five panels of identical size and shape. These panels are used to create a curved shape that protrudes from the exterior wall.

Fixed

A fixed window, commonly known as a picture window, consists of a single panel of glass that provides an unobstructed view of the outdoors. These windows are low maintenance and often used to display lovely views and to fill the room with natural light. As per its name, these windows are fixed in place and cannot open.

JELD-WEN window cost

JELD-WEN does not offer a wealth of pricing information on their website. The only indication JELD-WEN gives as to the price of a product is with their price range categories. These categories are represented by dollar signs with one being the least expensive and three being the most expensive. For example, Siteline Clad-Wood windows have a price rating of $$$, meaning that it is one of their higher-priced items.

However, the exact pricing will depend on several factors such as the style of the window, the type of glazing, and the window installation. While estimations of the pricing can be made, to find accurate pricing details, you will have to contact one of JELD WEN’s professional installers.
